Decay, gum disease, genetics, lifestyle, and other factors can cause tooth loss. While some patients prefer the security of dental implants, others favor the detachable feature of traditional dentures. The type of tooth replacement option that is right for you is a personal choice.
Patients who are experiencing extensive tooth loss can benefit from the Bar Attachment Denture. The Bar Attachment Denture offers the stability of dental implants with the comfort of being completely removable. Using as few as four dental implant posts, we can place the Bar Attachment Denture in just one or two visits.
At North Iowa Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center, we want you to feel comfortable every step of the way. In addition to a complete oral examination, medical review, and any additional imaging, your oral surgeon will sit down with you and discuss your goals for treatment during your consultation. We encourage you to call our office if you are experiencing extensive or complete tooth loss. We will create a treatment plan that is customized to your preferences and designed to provide your best outcome. North Iowa Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center offers many tooth replacement options, including the Bar Attachment Denture.
Your first visit to our office will be your consultation. After discussing your treatment plan, we will take impressions of your mouth to determine the ideal placement of your new implants.
In most cases, your next appointment will be your surgical procedure. We will always take the time to answer any last-minute questions you may have during this time. Your procedure will begin by administering the anesthesia selected at your consultation. Then, if necessary, your oral surgeon will remove any teeth that are remaining in the mouth. At least four implant posts will be strategically placed into the jaw bone, the surgical sites will be closed, and you will rest comfortably until the effects of the anesthesia have worn off.
The healing period takes place over the next several weeks following your procedure. This allows the implant posts to fuse with the jaw bone. Once the healing period is complete, a support bar will be placed, which connects the implant posts. This bar is what allows the prosthesis to conveniently attach and detach.
